The Lee College of Engineering’s senior design program brings together students and industrial partners in a collaborative research environment. As they tackle real-world engineering projects, the engineering studentsand their industry sponsors are afforded unlimited possibilities for learning and achievement.

Please look at the Project webpage to determine the upcoming projects. If you would like to be a mentor, contact Bill Heybruck.

The role of the mentor will be to:

  1. Ensure the students are regularly talking to the sponsor
  2. Assist the student group with technical decisions and design
  3. Participate in reviews, along with the sponsor (Project Requirements; Project Plans, Project Financials, Project Design)
  4. Grade the student work by filling out assessment forms using simple rubric forms provided.

Mentors will be compensated $500 for the 9-month work with each team. Mentors must complete the work to be compensated. Copensation method depends on the department Starting in 2009 mentor supplements will be applied to their research account or to the department,

Some companies are asking for the faculty Mentors to complete an NDA to be able to view the information provided to student teams.  Our Technology Transfer department has prepared a generic NDA for Mentors.

Please complete ONE, sign and send the hardcopy to Bill Heybruck (Smith 214) so it can be put on file and distributed upon request.  All forms are reviewed and signed by Technology Transfer as well.  Thank you for your cooperation
